This year’s Honoree is Joe Doswell. Joe Doswell was born in Montgomery, Alabama, attended the United States Navy Academy, and served in the surface nuclear Navy. He went to work for Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant after leaving the Navy. He and his wife Diana joined the club in 1991 when it was just an open field. They wanted a place to play golf and a place for their children to play tennis and swim. Joe played golf at Old South/Cannon for over thirty years. He loved the course and the friends he made at the club. He participated in the Men’s League, the Club Championship, the Member-Guest, Couples Golf, and Seniors. Joe and Diana supported and played in the Pink and Blue Tournament for many years.
In December of 2024, Joe was diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma, an incurable brain cancer. He died within three months.
CalvertHealth was an important role in Joe’s journey. He received excellent care in both the Emergency Department and as an inpatient. He was fortunate to have the wise and compassionate Arati Patel, Medical Director for Hematology and Oncology at CalvertHealth, as his oncologist.
Joe would be proud and honored to be remembered by the Pink and Blue Memorial Golf Classic.
